PIL.OT / System

Find. Verify. Publish.

PIL.OT monitors legal developments, scholarship, open calls and events in private international law. Before publication, it verifies the date and supporting source of every record.

01 / How it works

PIL.OT in three stages.

Selected stage / 01

Find material worth recording.

PIL.OT monitors official sources, court websites, academic indexes, calls and event calendars. A news item or feed entry is only a lead: PIL.OT opens the underlying text and isolates the material worth recording.

A record is not published until its source has been verified.

02 / Fields monitored

The four fields of private international law.

PIL.OT monitors conflict of laws, international civil procedure, nationality law and the law of foreign nationals within one system.

ILEX CAUSAE

Conflict of laws

Connecting rules, party choice, renvoi, public policy and overriding mandatory rules.

IILEX FORI

International civil procedure

Jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement, service, evidence and judicial cooperation.

IIILEX PATRIAE

Nationality law

Acquisition and loss of nationality, multiple nationality and statelessness.

IVSTATUS

Law of foreign nationals

Entry, residence, work, protection, removal, rights and duties.

03 / Types of content

One system. Four types of record.

PIL.OT distinguishes material by what it is. A news link alone is not treated as a development; a record enters the system only when a verifiable source has been found.
